PERSONAL PROJECTS

Featured below, are some personal creative projects that embody learning, curiosity and play- important components of creativity.

I hope the works below provide a glimpse into my inner world and make it evident that experimentation and curiosity are key themes in my work.

Breathing Technique Guides

The following are a collection of visual aids for breathing techniques. They were created in Figma and take inspiration from aura images. I created these with the goal of incorporating attainable mindfulness techniques throughout my day. My hope is that these images convey tranquility and beauty.

Children's Books App

I consider myself to be super passionate about learning and knowledge in general, so on my free time I'm currently working on an app that focuses on children's books. The quick backstory to this idea is that growing up low income in LA County, books were one of the few things I surprisingly never lacked. Whether I got them for free at the end of the school year or grabbed them out of the "free books" box at my local library, I had the privilege of curating my own personalized mini library at home. The goal of this app is to provide children with free and unlimited access to their own personally curated e-library. I have yet to work out the specifics of this project but, everything starts as an idea.

Portfolio Re-design

This is a low fidelity re-design of the portfolio you're currently viewing. One of my biggest obstacles as a new UX designer has been landing interviews. So, I decided to narrow down the possible issues. I decided to use TikTok's UX design community to hone down on the problem with my portfolio, particularly by engaging with portfolio review videos. By observing experienced designers critique portfolios, I realized that one of my most obvious issues was the layout of my case studies.

Design Iteration

The first round of images below shows the changes made to the top navigation bar. Image 1 is an example of a nav bar that is not fixed to the top and goes out of view upon scrolling. While the 2nd image shows a sticky nav bar that ensures the navigation flow is not impeded. The 3rd and 4th images display the difference between the lack of and addition of an in page navigation section to the case study pages. Finally, the 5th and 6th images display a layout change in the Random page which focused on adding a hero image and introduction to the page's content.
